Confetti List::Sephora by OPI Gelshine

I love nail polish – I feel like polished nails pulls together an outfit. But it never fails that within a day of a manicure (either salon or self-applied), I chip a nail. So I was extremely interested to try out Sephora’s OPI Gelshine Kit, which promised up to two weeks of chip-free polish. I’m slightly cynical when it comes to product claims, but I have to tell you that in this case, this kit works. Like even better than salon gel manicures! Which is a good thing, because the kit (which comes with your choice of color) is $159. But I rationalized that for the cost of 3 – 4 salon visits for a gel manicure, this kit pays for itself.

It took me about 30 minutes the first time I applied the polish (every layer you apply has to be cured with 20 seconds of the included UV light), but the last time it took me only 20 minutes. And when you’re done with the last cure, your nails are completely dry. Like dig-around-your-purse-for-your-keys-and-you-still-won’t-chip-anything-dry.

I also feel this gel polish is gentler on nails than salon versions – my nails seem to be in much better shape. There are also currently 18 colors in the Gelshine system, so you can still experience the range of OPI’s colors.

And now for a couple of visuals:

Here are my nails at the two week mark. You can see there’s a little regrowth – but no chips!

Here’s how you wrap your nails to remove the polish. Looks a little scary, but all you do is soak the cotton pad with the nail remover, wrap it around your finger and wait 20 minutes. The polish comes off in one fell swoop! Done and done.

This kit comes with the following:

- 0.29 oz gelshine™ Base Coat
- 0.29 oz gelshine™ Top Coat
- 0.29 oz gelshine™ Gel Colour
- gelshine™ LED Light
- 25 x Nail Pads
- 3 x Removal Nail Wraps
- 2 oz Nail Cleanser
- Buffing block
- 2 oz Nail & Gel Colour Remover
- 0.3 oz Brush-On Cuticle Oil
- Cuticle pusher
- 3 x gloves

Once you get this kit, the only thing you have to do is find a home for all of your regular nail polish.

About

Glittery adornments are amusing (and dare I say it – almost necessary) and it seemed appropriate to name this blog after something a little whimsical. Confetti in her hair made me smile because it brought to mind a person who lives for the moment. And of course, probably accessorized with something sparkly.
